Bossa Nova - Rio Vida Vela
With this wealth of music to work with, it was only a matter of time before Brazilian music burst out from its national boundaries.

Bossa Nova started in the mid-sixties with the song Girl from Ipanema. It was the first commercially successful Brazilian music to become internationally well-known . In those days Rio set the fashions in Brazil, especially in Ipanema, where the Girl from Ipanema spent the sunny days on the part of the beach known as Posto Nove. Suddenly the composer Tom Jobim and the lyricist-poet Vinicius de Moraes who produced this song as a joint effort became world-renowned with this swinging mix of samba rythms and American jazz.
