Hiking Sugar Loaf

This walk starts at Cláudio Coutinho Track or the so-called “Caminho do Bem-te-vi” (Flycatcher Way) which is 1,250 meters long, going round the bottom of Morro da Urca!

With some luck and starting early in the morning, we may see birds such as “Tiê Sangue” (the Saddle Tanager bird), “Gavião Casaca de Ouro” (Rufous Crested cachalote) and “Bem-te-vi” (Flycatcher), as well as animals such as Mico Estrela (Wied’s Marmoset) or “Saguim”.

The area inspires sport practitioners, from runners to cyclists, and especially climbers.
The track is steep at the beginning and alternates with smoother sections. It takes 40 minutes to reach the plateau, where you will be able to enjoy the beautiful landscape of Baía da Guanabara (Guanabara Bay) and Rio de Janeiro downtown area. The track continues to Morro da Urca, where the first passenger cable car terminal station is located. The group may use the same track to descend or get on the cable cars.
