Rappelling in Sauvage Beaches

This sport can be described as: going down natural walls, cliffs or bridges with the use of ropes. This climbing technique can also be used to assist other activities such as: caving and canyoning. Despite of its radical appearance, rappelling is a very safe sport when assisted by professionals, and can be practiced by anyone in good physical conditions.

Just 40 minutes from Copacabana, on the west coast of Rio, we find the deserted beaches of Barra de Guaratiba. After hiking for one hour through a beautiful trail along the coast, we reach the imposing Pedra da Tartaruga (Turtle Stone), where an unforgettable 50 meters of altitude (164 feet) rappel awaits you. And besides all that, a refreshing sea bath in clear waters followed by a healthy lunch served with tuna, chicken or turkey sandwiches and cold drinks.
